To ensure there is no confusion with reference to Insurance requirements Fraser Coast Regional Councils insurance Agent - Jardine Lloyd Thompson state
"it is recommended that Council require any external party that Council enters into an agreement with to indemnify the Council and, because an indemnity only has the value of the person granting it, to have the indemnity supported by adequate and appropriate public liability insurance cover. To confirm that the external party has obtained the relevant insurance, it is also recommended that Council sights a certificate of currency from the party's insurer to confirm the cover is current and appropriate."
For any group that wishes to participate in the Illumination Parade or other areas of the festival and does not have the appropriate insurance it can be obtained at a relatively low cost via Local Community Insurance Services.
Local Community Insurance Services (LCIS) a specialist insurance provider established to manage the insurance needs of clubs and community groups within Australia. LCIS is a division of Jardine Lloyd Thompson (JLT) who have been actively providing insurance solutions to clubs and volunteer based community groups since 1987.
All clubs and community groups need insurance of some kind and JLT have been working closely with both Local and State Governments to ensure that the insurances offered by LCIS meet the requirements of both these spheres of Government.
Our business aims to assist not for profit Organisations that have the following characteristics:
- Provide services to the broader community;
- Have a turnover/funding of up to $5 million per annum;
- Do not distribute profits to members; and
- Consist mainly of volunteers.
